“Christ, truly present under the species of bread and wine,
is analogously present in the word proclaimed in the liturgy.”
– Verbum Domini, 56

This conference is designed to help priests, deacons, and seminarians enter more deeply into the responsibility of preaching Biblically. We will exploit various aspects of the statement made in Verbum Domini (56), “Christ, truly present under the species of bread and wine, is analogously present in the word proclaimed in the liturgy.”  As can be seen from the titles, we will look at the Biblical Word in the sacramental ceremonies and in enlightening and empowering those who receive it. From the perspective of the preacher, we will look at the Word in spiritual warfare, the gift of understanding, lectio divina, and the call to holiness. Every evening there will be a small-group practical exercise with discussion in preparing a Sunday sermon. There will be plenty of opportunities for spiritual reflection, prayer, confession, rest, and informal social time.
